The Intergalactic Timebank is implemented as a mutual credit system that runs across many local ledgers while behaving like one coherent time accounting network. Voz is not a speculative token and is never intended to be traded on markets. Instead it is an internal unit of account that records obligations and contributions, allowing balances to go negative within a governed credit limit.
The system uses NFTs as receipts rather than assets. A member deposits a pledge as a Pledge NFT in the Pledge Bank, which grants them a credit line. When work is delivered, a completion attestation is issued and the ledger updates both balances and reputation. This creates a closed loop where pledges underwrite spending and delivered service repays obligations.
Interoperability is handled through an inter-ledger clearing design. Local timebanks can run on separate chains or local-first ledgers and still exchange Voz and recognition safely by locking pledges and sending signed settlement messages. This makes it possible for Hitchhikers to travel between communities while carrying identity, reputation, and credit standing without central custody.
The implementation goal is boring reliability wrapped in playful lore. A HomeLab node can run a full local timebank and optionally federate with others. The Vogon “Entropy” regime can ban Open Law, but it cannot stop people from keeping honest ledgers, issuing meaningful receipts, and coordinating through voluntary mutual credit.
